Kim Kardashian is accepting zero handouts from her ex-husband Kanye 'Ye' West.

When the reality star reportedly forked over $70.4 million to purchase the Malibu mansion that formerly belonged to Cindy Crawford, the one person that she probably did not expect to offer to help her renovate the space was Ye.

Therefore, when he made the suggestion, she turned him down, choosing to do all the heavy lifting herself. The refusal has left room for speculation, especially since the reality star's new home is just a few miles away from the $57million seaside home that her ex-husband purchased last September.

Kim Kardashian Wants "Hands On" Approach With Renovating New Home

When women get offered a way out — especially regarding strenuous issues — they usually jump at the offer. However, that was not the case when Ye offered to handle the burden of renovating Kardashian’s newly acquired Malibu beach house. One close pal of the former married couple told HollywoodLife:

"Other than the house next door to her Hidden Hills property, this is the first home she's purchased on her own since the split, and she wants to be totally hands-on with decorating and everything. As much as she appreciates the gesture, she'd prefer to handle this alone."

The source added that Ye was happy about his ex-wife's purchase even though it was a "short distance from their other homes in Calabasas, it really does feel like a world away being there." The rapper also believed that "living on the ocean" would be "wonderful for the kids."

Another close pal of Kardashian explained that when the SKIMS founder decided it was time to get another home in California, she "knew that she had to buy a property in Malibu." The reality star reportedly spent time looking for the perfect property that offered "privacy and security."

Despite their divorce, the source noted that Kardashian consulted Ye before dropping cash for the property because she wanted the "Jesus Walks" rapper to "know that the deal was taking place." This move might have something to do with the couple's agreement to "meet in the middle lately when it comes to decisions about their kids."

The source concluded that the most crucial thing to Ye and Kardashian was their children, knowing how much both parents love them. Soon after she made the big purchase, The Blast observed that the aspiring lawyer's new neighbors would include stars like Leo DiCaprio, Drake, and Neil Diamond.

Asides from that, Kardashian's new home is the "priciest residential transfer in Malibu this year, and is also 2022's fourth-priciest California home sale, behind only the $75 million Drake paid for his new home, a $120 million Holmby Hills deal." The over 7,000-square-foot house has four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, and several spacious living areas.

When Ye appeared on an episode of the "Alo Mind" podcast, the conversation dabbled into his life as the father to his and Kardashian's four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Per The Blast, the chat seemed important following the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" openness about her ex being fully involved in their kids' lives. To that end, the "Flashing Lights" rapper said:

"Your home is your original church. So, even to this day, I'll still give Kim advice on things that can help, because that's gonna go to the kids. She's still gotta — basically 80 percent of the time — raise those children."

The pair's journey to co-parenting began after Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021, following nearly seven years of marriage. That move prompted a very public and messy divorce drama aided by Ye continuously publicizing almost every detail of their interactions concerning the children.

The pair recently had a dispute over the school their children should attend, with the "Ghost Town" artist making several now-deleted posts containing text exchanges between him and Kardashian. The chain included messages from his socialite ex begging him to stop badmouthing her mother, Kris Jenner.

As it turned out, Kardashian was against Ye wanting to transfer their kids into his newly opened Donda Academy. Luckily, the pair eventually resolved the issue, as the "Praise God" rapper revealed in a later social media update.
